A Festive Workshop With The Flower Lodge
If you're local then you'll know that this independent florist is an absolute gem! Stocking the most beautiful quality blooms and gifts all owned and run by the lovely Tracey.
I'm never disappointed with flowers I get from there, so when Tracey invited me along to one of her festive workshops I couldn't wait!
Six of us were at the evening workshop and all enjoyed prosecco and nibbles as we watched Tracey show us how to make a stunning table centre piece, all to the soothing tones of Michael Buble. It was festive prep perfection!
We were shown a few little tricks and given a useful handout telling us the names of flowers we'd be using. Tracey also shared some floristry pearls of wisdom such as how you should chop off the ends of roses when they start to wilt and pop them in a bowl of boiling water. Apparently it perks them right up - who knew?!
Tracey made it all look so easy (obviously) but gave us enough of a steer and encouragement while we attempted our own. We started with the base, fixing our candle, then added the greenery, then the flowers followed by the 'stars of the show' - 3 stunning orchid flowers.
By the end of the evening each and every arrangement was completely different and individual to the person who'd created it. Some went for more green, others for all the extra flourishes or a paired back colour scheme. I more or less copied Tracey's example (to stay on the safe side) and was delighted with the results.
My arrangement has spent the week in and out of the utility room where it's been keeping cool. It's lasted brilliantly and is now safely packed, ready to take to my parents' house for Christmas.
So with that said, that's a wrap for me for 2017! However your front door is adorned or your table is decorated this Christmas, I hope your day is a joyful one and that you enjoy a peaceful time with the ones you love. Thank you, as ever, for stopping by, reading and supporting my little corner of the internet, it really means a lot.

A huge thank you to Tracey at The Flower Lodge for inviting me to attend this workshop. Whilst this place on was gifted, all words and opinions expressed are my own.
